What To Wear To A Photoshoot: Family Christmas Card Edition
With the holiday photo season upon us, what I often find is that clients book their session and then ask,
"NOW WHAT DO WE WEAR?"
Never fear! I am here to help you out! Here are a few tips to get your family looking their best for those once-a-year photos.
Coordinate, Don't Match You don't wear matching white shirts in everyday life, so why do it now? Wear similar colors and styles without getting too matchy-matchy. Need some more specific examples? Check out the link to our Pinterest board for some ideas.
Accessorize Hats, scarves, boots, and jackets will not only dress up your outfit, but also add that winter theme to your photos.
Make Use of Props A plate full of cookies for Santa, a sign with your family name on it or blankets and mugs with hot cocoa could be just the special touch your photos need to set them apart. Don't forget those four-legged family members as well.
Have Fun! It is always possible that the kids are going to get their dress clothes dirty, throw temper tantrums, and be the worst versions of themselves. That's okay. Your Christmas card photos don't have to show your family as a Stepford family, but rather what your family is really like - tickle fights, cuddling, and silly faces! Give piggy-back rides, drink spiked eggnog, decorate gingerbread houses together, or whatever you like! Make your photos personal and memorable.
Hopefully these tips have helped you with planning your Christmas photos and making them personal and creative.
