The Beauty and Charm That Is Charleston, SC
I've always had the "travel bug". From the very moment I mark the dates off my calendar, I immerse myself in sights to see, places to visit, and tasty goodies to eat! (FYI vacation calories don't count ;) ) And that was totally the case when my honey and I planned a trip to Charleston, South Carolina.
We love checking out the local scene, so first we headed to Charleston City Market. This historic street is filled with shops, restaurants, and ends at the Cooper River.
Everywhere you look, there's old world charm, something historic, and great architecture.
And of course, great food!
Yes, I sat where Oprah sat in the restaurant. I guess that makes us friends, right?
One thing that was a must-see for us were plantation homes. I loved the southern charm of these historic homes and the grandeur they evoked. When standing and soaking it all in, it made me dream of Sunday afternoons sitting in a rocking chair on the front porch, sipping sweet tea. Isn't that a lovely mental image?
First up, Middleton Place. This beautiful site was the first of many plantation homes we were able to see on our trip. The home was right on the water and there were different kinds of animals everywhere! It was truly like stepping back in time!
Cute little horse stalls!
A sweet little cafe where you can eat lunch and daydream.
Next up on the list, Magnolia Plantation and Gardens! This beautiful estate was breathtakingly gorgeous, with it's expansive fields, colorful wildflowers, and draping Spanish moss.
See? I told you I'd get my sweet tea :)
