Embroidery Basics: Hosted By Hibiscus Linens and Biscuit Home
Growing up, I spent a lot of time with my grandparents, and my grandmother being the typical 50's housewife, insisted that I learn how to sew during my summers spent with her. I was the only kid I knew that attended sewing classes and knew how to do cross stitch. But you know what? I loved it! I've always loved being creative, working diligently on something, and at the end, sitting back and showing off my hard work. So when I found out Hibiscus Linens was putting on an embroidery class, I couldn't wait to sign up! The ladies at Biscuit in the Montrose area of Houston, Tx were the perfect hosts and had quite the spread for us to nibble and sip.
Marian from Hibiscus Linens was the best teacher! She started off by showing us the basic stitches of embroidery and then we got to choose one of her hankies to put our initials on. Marian is the master! She is so crazy talented! Did you know that she learned how to sew in an abbey in Mexico? And her statement about her linens couldn't be more true - "These aren't your grandmother's linens, but she would be proud of the quality."
