The Process Workshop Recap (Film/Digital Hybrid Photography Workshop in Nashville, TN)

I had the opportunity last November to attend a workshop with some truly amazing people headlining. People like Julie PaisleyJeremy ChouMichael & Carina, and Lauren Fair were all there to encourage us to shoot film more often and how to incorporate it into our wedding businesses. While there, I had the opportunity to shoot four completely different styled shoots, but first I wanted to show you a little behind the scenes moments at the workshop.

Allison & Alfred: Married (House of Blues Houston Wedding Photographer)

Allison and Alfred met while they were studying at South Texas College of Law, so getting married there was a no brainer! And when the House of Blues is right down the street, you know that’s where you have to have the reception. The food and ambiance of the House of Blues was the perfect setting for a fun, upscale wedding with lots of tucked away tables, dimly rooms, and colorful decor. Here’s a few photos from their big day!

Kelsey & Justin (Sea Scout Base Galveston Wedding Photographer)

Kelsey and Justin were married at the end of last year at the most unique venue – the Sea Scout Base in Galveston, Texas. So, if you’re unfamiliar with this location, basically it’s a training facility for boy scouts to come and learn about nautical activities and earn their maritime badges. The great thing about them opening it up as a venue is that it is a non-profit and all of the proceeds from the wedding go back into funding the scouting programs. It’s really a great concept. But back to Kelsey and Justin…here’s a few photos from their big day.

Jess & Scott - Married {Houston, TX Intimate Small Wedding Photographer}

Sometimes as a photographer, I get to photograph huge weddings that have hundreds of people in attendance. And then others, like at Jess and Scott's wedding, I am one of 10 people in the room. It's in these smaller, more intimate weddings that I really feel the gravity of what I'm doing. I am encapsulating a moment in time that will be forever remembered through the photos I take. I have the unique responsibility of being the memory keeper. Long after I am gone, these photos will be passed on to future generations, and I want those great grand kids to know the love that these two shared. By the world's standards of huge, elaborate weddings, this was not a big day. But for Jess and Scott and their immediate family, it was even better than those big affairs. Don't get me wrong, I love the bling and glitz of flashy weddings. But there's something to be said about a small wedding. One where there's no rushing around. One where I actually got to know the people in attendance. One where I got to hear the small and big ways that Scott shows Jess how he loves her. One where the bride and groom get to really soak it all in and enjoy every single second of it - the big day - their wedding day.

Natalie & John Paul (Rock House Hideaway, Fredericksburg, TX Destination Wedding Photographer)

Ah, weddings...we love to see those "big" moments, don't we? The groom's reaction when he sees his bride coming down the aisle. The first kiss as husband and wife. The father daughter dance. The cutting of the cake. And so on and so on. But what about those "little" moments that often go overlooked? Like when the flower girl puts on her dress and sees herself for the first time. Or when the pastor opens his Bible to the verses about love in 2 Corinthians. Those little moments - those details - are my favorite part of capturing a wedding day. Those are the things I love to photograph. Those are the photos that when you see them in your gallery of images, you go "oh wow, I can't believe she got that." So in honor of those little moments and details, I thought I'd show you a few of those "oh wow" moments from Natalie and JP's wedding at Rock House Hideaway in Fredericksburg, Texas (shooting with James Pharaon Creative). It was my first time being in Fredericksburg and I'm still wondering, what took me so dang long? It is the cutest little town and I can't wait to go back and just play tourist for a weekend.

Liz & Chris - Engaged! {Downtown Houston Engagement Photographer}

Liz and Chris are so much fun to be around! They're playful, sarcastic, and silly - which are three of my favorite things! but they also know how to turn up the heat in their photos - and they said they were awkward! No way! Liz and Chris met online a little over 3 years ago, and have been inseparable ever since! They love going to concerts, traveling, watching baseball, snorkeling, playing with their dogs, and playing cards (Chris is a semi-professional poker player).

Krislynn & Brandon : Married {Sarnia, Ontario Wedding Photographer}

Traveling for weddings is always fun! Not only do I get to revel in the beauty of a couple's relationship blossoming, but I also get to go someplace new and have fun photographing in new places. This was definitely the case for Krislynn and Brandon's wedding day in Sarnia, Ontario. In case you're not familiar with where that is, it's right on the US (Michigan)/Canada border - about 3 hours from Toronto. It's a fishing community located right on the water and has a big beautiful bridge that crosses over into the US (of course we had to take photos there which you'll see later in this post). We were so grateful that they allowed enough time in the timeline for us to go all around the town and take photos in different locations! Us photographers are always super excited when we have time to play and be creative :) Thanks for having me along, C Wright Photography!

This year, I wanted to do something really special for my clients for their Christmas photos. So I started by renting a home in Galveston, Texas.
